Prato has two main railway stations (Prato Centrale and Prato Porta al Serraglio) connected to Florence by frequent regional trains, a journey of about 20 minutes — among the most convenient connections in all of Tuscany. The central station is a few minutes' walk from the historic centre.
By car, Prato is served by the A11 Florence-Sea motorway, with a dedicated exit, and is also easily reached via the Florence-Pistoia-Lucca expressway (its local branch).
With no airport of its own, the most immediate option is Florence Airport (Peretola/Vespucci), about 20-25 minutes away by car or by train with a change in Florence; Pisa Airport, further away, remains an alternative for those combining the visit with the Tuscan coast.
