How to get to Carrara: train, car and airport
Carrara is served by Carrara-Avenza station on the Tyrrhenian line and by the A12 motorway with a dedicated exit: here's how to get there.

Carrara-Avenza station sits on the Genoa-Pisa railway line (the Tyrrhenian line), with direct regional connections from La Spezia to the south and Pisa to the north. The station is located in the Avenza hamlet, a few kilometres from the historic centre: from there it's best to continue by local bus or taxi to reach Piazza Alberica.
By car, the main reference is the A12 Genoa-Livorno motorway, which has a dedicated "Carrara" exit — convenient whether arriving from the north (Liguria, La Spezia) or the south (Massa, Versilia, Pisa). The same motorway is also the most direct way to reach the Torano, Miseglia and Colonnata quarries, well signposted from the town centre.
Without an airport of its own, Carrara relies on Pisa Airport, Tuscany's main gateway, connected to the regional rail network.
