How to get to Comacchio by train
Comacchio does not have its own railway station. The nearest stations are:
- **Ferrara** (about 50 km): on the main Bologna-Venice line, well connected by regional and high-speed trains
- **Codigoro** (about 18 km): terminus of the local Ferrara-Codigoro line, the closest overall
- **Ostellato** (about 20 km): on the same Ferrara-Codigoro line
From Ferrara to Comacchio you continue by bus (TPER/SETA line, about 1 hour). From Codigoro a local bus service reaches Comacchio in about 25 minutes. From Bologna the total journey takes about 2 hours (high-speed train to Ferrara + bus). From Venice about 2 hours 30 minutes via Ferrara.

- The Ferrara-Codigoro line is scenic and crosses the Delta countryside: an experience in itself
- Check bus timetables from your arrival station: services increase in summer, reduce in winter
- Alternatively, bike rental services from Ferrara station allow you to reach Comacchio along the Delta cycle path

Comacchio is easily reached by car, and this is the most convenient option:
- From Bologna: A13 towards Ferrara/Padova, exit Ferrara Sud, then SS309 Romea southbound (about 1 hour 15 minutes, 95 km)
- From Venice/Padova: A13 towards Bologna, exit Ferrara Sud, then SS309 (about 1 hour 30 minutes)
- From Ravenna: SS309 Romea northbound (about 45 minutes, 55 km)
- From Milan: A1 to Bologna, then A13 and SS309 (about 3 hours)
Parking
- Free parking along Via Cavour and Via Buonafede, near the centre
- Large free car park near the Museo Delta Antico (former Ospedale degli Infermi)
- In summer at the Lidi di Comacchio (Lido degli Estensi, Lido di Spina) parking is paid: arrive early
- The old town is largely pedestrianised: park on the outskirts and continue on foot

The nearest airports to Comacchio are:
- **Bologna Marconi Airport** (100 km): the most convenient, with domestic and international flights. From the airport the people mover connects to the central station, then train to Ferrara and bus to Comacchio
- **Venice Marco Polo Airport** (140 km): alternative for those coming from northern Europe. From Venice train to Ferrara then bus
- **Rimini Federico Fellini Airport** (100 km): seasonal, useful in summer. Then SS16 and SS309
In all cases, car rental at the airport is the most practical solution to reach Comacchio and explore the Delta territory.
How to get to Comacchio by bus
Intercity buses are the main public transport option for Comacchio:
- **TPER Ferrara-Comacchio line**: frequent services in summer (every 30-60 minutes), reduced in winter
- **Ravenna-Comacchio line**: connection via SS309
- **FlixBus**: some seasonal services stop at the Lidi di Comacchio in summer
The main stop is in Piazzale Aldo Moro, near the old town and the Trepponti bridge.
Local transport in Comacchio
Comacchio's old town is small and entirely walkable in 20 minutes: canals, bridges, churches and the fish market are all close together. To reach the Lidi (7 km) and the Valli di Comacchio there are summer buses, but the bicycle is the ideal transport. Numerous bike rentals can be found both in the centre and at the seaside resorts.
To visit the Valli (Stazione di Foce, Comacchio Salt Works) you need a boat or bike on dedicated paths. Boat tours depart from Stazione Foce and from the canal port of Porto Garibaldi.
