How to get to Asti: all the ways to reach the capital of Monferrato

Asti, in the heart of Piedmont, is the capital of Monferrato and the UNESCO heritage hills. Famous for its Palio horse race, sparkling wine and Piedmontese cuisine, it is well connected to Turin and Milan. Here is how to reach it.

Nearest airports to Asti

Asti does not have its own airport, but two important airports serve the area.

Turin Caselle Airport (TRN)

Located about 80 km from Asti, this is the nearest airport. From Turin Caselle, you can reach Torino Porta Nuova station by train (about 30 minutes) or shuttle bus. From Torino Porta Nuova, frequent trains depart for Asti.

Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP)

About 170 km away, it offers many more international flights. The Malpensa Express connects the airport to Milano Centrale, from where trains depart for Asti (about 1 hour 30 minutes with a change at Alessandria or direct).

Milan Linate Airport (LIN)

Closer than Malpensa (about 150 km), it is connected to central Milan by the M4 metro line. From Milano Centrale, you continue to Asti by train.

By train: the most convenient way

Asti has a well-connected railway station on the Turin-Genoa line and the Turin-Alessandria-Milan line.
