How to get to Asolo: train, car and bus from major hubs

How to get to Asolo

Asolo sits in the hills of Treviso province, in a secluded position that has preserved its charm but requires some planning to reach. There is no railway station in the town, but connections with nearby centres are efficient.

By train

From Venice

From Venice Santa Lucia or Mestre, take the regional train to Castelfranco Veneto (about 50 minutes). From Castelfranco, MOM bus line 140 to Asolo (30 minutes, hourly departures). Alternatively, train to Montebelluna (1 hour) then bus to Asolo (20 minutes).

From Treviso

Regional train Treviso-Montebelluna (25 minutes, frequent services). From Montebelluna bus to Asolo in 20 minutes. The connection is convenient and frequent on weekdays.

From Bassano del Grappa

Direct bus Bassano-Asolo (MOM line, about 25 minutes). Departures every 1-2 hours. Bassano is connected by rail to Padua, Venice and Trento.

By car

From Venice and Padua

A4 motorway (Venice-Milan), exit Castelfranco Veneto. From there follow signs to Asolo, about 20 km on scenic provincial roads. Total time from Venice: about 1 hour 15 minutes.

From Treviso

Dual carriageway towards Montebelluna, then signs to Asolo. About 45 minutes of pleasant driving through the Treviso countryside.

From Milan

A4 motorway to the Vicenza Est or Cittadella exit, then provincial roads northward. About 2 hours 45 minutes.

Parking

The old town is largely pedestrianised. Main car parks are below the Rocca (free on weekdays) and in Via Forestuzzo. On summer weekends spaces fill up early: arrive before 10 am.

By air

Venice Marco Polo Airport

The closest, about 70 km away. From there ATVO bus to Treviso or train from Mestre, then continue to Asolo as described above. Car hire available at the airport.

Treviso Canova Airport

About 50 km. Ryanair hub with low-cost flights from many European cities. Shuttle bus to Treviso station, then train and bus to Asolo.

Verona Villafranca Airport

About 130 km, an alternative for those arriving from the west. Rail connection from Verona to Padua or Vicenza, then continue north.

By bus

The MOM network (Mobilità di Marca) connects Asolo with Montebelluna, Castelfranco Veneto, Bassano del Grappa and the foothill towns. Services are reduced on holidays and in summer. Check the MOM website for updated timetables.

Practical tips

  • A car is the most convenient option to also explore the surroundings (Villa Barbaro, Possagno, wineries)
  • By train+bus, always factor in connection times: services are not very frequent
  • By bicycle: Asolo is reachable via the Muson cycle path, but the final climbs are challenging
  • The town is small and entirely walkable once you arrive
