Day 1: The Monumental Heart

Start from **Piazza del Popolo**, considered one of Italy's most beautiful squares. Climb toward **Colle dell'Annunziata** (20-minute uphill walk) to reach the park with panoramic city views. The **Monastero dell'Annunziata** stands here, often closed but whose churchyard offers the best photo point of Ascoli.

Visit the **Ceramics Art Museum** in the San Tommaso complex (45 minutes), then head to the **Cartiera Papale** along the Castellano: medieval industrial archaeology with fulling mill remains. The riverside walk to **Ponte di Cecco** (a suspended Roman bridge) is peaceful and panoramic (30 minutes).

Finish with the **Teatro Ventidio Basso** (if open for visits), a neoclassical jewel rivaling theaters of much larger cities.

Evening
