Bassano del Grappa is one of the Veneto's most charming cities, nestled between Monte Grappa and the turquoise Brenta river flowing through it. Day 1: The historic centre and the Alpini Bridge

Morning

Start from the **Ponte degli Alpini** (Old Bridge), designed by Andrea Palladio in 1569. The covered wooden bridge has been rebuilt several times (most recently in 1948 by the Alpini corps, hence the name) and is the city's emotional heart. The view from here of the Brenta and mountains is iconic.
